  • In 1984, Rick Hendrick started All Star Racing with the #5 driven by Geoff Bodine.  From a humble beginning along with a persistency and determination not far from the plot of Days Of Thunder, Hendrick transformed All Star Racing into a four car operation now known as Hendrick Motorsports.

    With the foresight to hire driver Jeff Gordon and crew chief Ray Evernham and the willingness to gamble on another unproven driver, Jimmie Johnson, Hendrick wrote NASCAR history.
