Justin Day (@JDayErrday) Provides His Predictions Of UFC 166: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos 3

What a great PPV card the UFC is bringing us as always!

Let’s jump into the predictions!

MAIN EVENT

Cain Velasquez vs. Junior Dos Santos

This is the rubber match, so to speak, between these two heavyweights for the UFC Heavyweight Championship!

Neither of these two have any glaring holes or weaknesses in their games, and this should be a great top-notch PPV!

I believe the champion Velasquez is the better fighter and will retain his belt.

Winner: Cain Velasquez via 2nd Round KO

Daniel Cormier vs. Roy “Big Country” Nelson

There is a reason why Cormier is undefeated, and it is because he is very good!  Big Country was, at one point, very good also and could compete on the level that Cormier is right now.  But at this point in Nelson’s career, I just don’t see him being able to keep up.

Winner: Daniel Cormier via Unanimous Decision

Gilbert Melendez vs. Diego Sanchez

This is my early fight of the night prediction, and I do not think it will even be close!  The pace of this fight will be enjoyable, and the level of mixed martial arts expertise will be very fun to watch.  This is a very evenly matched fight, but I have an idea that the veteran Sanchez will get the W.

Winner: Diego Sanchez via Split Decision

Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Shawn Jordan

A match up of two hard-hitting heavyweights in this fight.  Jordan is very good in the stand up game, but so is his opponent Gonzaga.  The biggest differences are that Gonzaga’s ground game is much better, and I think he has a slightly more full gas tank.

Winner: Gabriel Gonzaga via 1st Round Submission (Guillotine Choke)

John Dodson vs. Darrell Montague

This could be the only fight that could compete for fight of the night besides the Sanchez vs Melendez fight.  Montague is making his much-anticipated UFC debut against Dodson, who a few months ago finished TJ Dillishaw, and in his last fight, had a war against Demetrious Johnson.

Tough fight to predict.

Winner: Darrell Montague via 2nd Round Submission (Armbar)
